If you’re anything like me, you are somewhat busy every day. There’s always something to do. However, every once in a blue moon, you have a day where you just aren’t doing anything. These kind of days are bittersweet. It’s nice to get a break from the business of life, but it’s also really boring. Personally, I love being productive, so it’s difficult to have any positive self-worth if I’m not doing anything. So here are the 5 ways to be productive on your day off.
1. Go Grocery Shopping
Sometimes it’s hard to fit that extra chore into your everyday life, but this is really important! I really like grocery shopping, so this isn’t too bad. If you don’t like it, make it fun! Bring your significant other or best friend with you. One of my favorite things to do when I am dreading something is to reward myself with something small at the end. That’s a sure fire way to be more productive. So make your list, check it twice, and get yourself some ice cream or something.
2. Clean the House
Your home should be a relaxing environment that is clutter free. This past week was super busy for me, so my bedroom was a mess. I would have a long day at work, then scoot into my bed and ignore the monstrosity. The floor had clothes all over it and there was just stuff all over my dresser and nightstand. It was not a pleasing sight to come home to and it really was no good way to live. So tidy up, maybe get out the Lysol and scrub away the dirt around your home.
3. Get Organized
I think there is always something that could be organized in your house. I absolutely love being organized and there are so many tips on the internet to help you. Pinterest is an amazing resource for organization tips as well as DIY’s to make things cheap. I’m on Pinterest almost every day because of how many things are available to me. The only problem with Pinterest is that it’s easy to get carried away and just spend hours rummaging through all of the different pins, so be careful!
4. Hang out with your Housemates
It’s good to know who you’re living with. Right now, I live with my family and I spent almost the whole day hanging out with them on our back deck throwing a football around and talking. It helps that it was a gorgeous day outside. Plus, it was just nice to relax and be with people I love. Maybe you’re not living with someone who you love… but maybe you could go with them and get some frozen yogurt or something (can you tell I have a sweet tooth right now?)
5. Try that Restaurant
Has there been a restaurant that a lot of people have been talking about? If not, ask people on social media! It still amazes me how quickly we can find answers to questions. Your friends will give you some good info. If you don’t use social media type of person, then look on trip advisor or yelp. They also give examples on how expensive it, so if you have a tight budget, these websites are really helpful. It’s really fun to try new things and who knows? Maybe it will be a hit and you’ll go back there in the future!
Those are the best five ways that I could come up with for productivity. I hope you enjoyed it and next time you have a day off, what will you do with it?
