Yesterday was Mother’s day. Lots of people posted pictures of their mothers on social media and captioned it with a long message saying how much they love their mom. I thought about doing that and I have done it over the years, but I just wasn’t feeling it. I love my mom. I love her so much that I’m dedicating this whole post to her (it’s longer than an Instagram caption 😉). It’s just that it’s been overdone and I’m bored with it. Instead, let me tell you what I did do for Mother’s Day.
Mother’s Day Celebration
My mother deserves a lot more than what my broke 23-year-old self can afford. Luckily, my mom isn’t real big into gifts. She loves when you do some sort of service for her. There’s a test called the 5 love languages test. (You can take it here if you’d like) I took the test and my love language is very clearly physical touch. That’s beside the point. Anyway, she’s very big on service.
So, I went to her house and gave her a cool card. (I meant to take a picture, but I forgot.) Then I started cleaning their kitchen and doing the dishes. Then I organized dinner. I went to the store and got the food and my sister and my dad cooked as well as myself. We had such a feast because my sister already had something planned for dinner and I didn’t know, so we had two main dishes.
For our appetizer, I made a cheese platter and put on the leftover grapes from the fruit salad. It was a perfect way to satisfy our (my) hunger while waiting for the food to be ready.
We had Zatarans’ jambalaya with kielbasa. My dad grilled Italian sausages. I made the fruit salad and the veggies.
Of course, we had to have a delicious dessert. We had a chocolate creme pie and a berry pie. Neither one was homemade, but they were still delicious.
Why I Love my Mother.
Mother’s day is mostly about going the extra mile for your mom, just like she’s done for you while she’s raised you. I tried to do something nice for my mom and she loved it. My mom deserves a 5-course meal every night. Why?
My mom is caring because of how she treats others
My mom is beautiful and gave her good looks to myself
My mom is unselfish because she’ll offer you her plate of food if you didn’t have anything to eat.
My mom is smart because she homeschooled 5 kids.
My mom is patient because she doesn’t get upset with others easily.
My mom is funny because of her mom jokes (like dad jokes, but she’s a mom)
My mom is sweet because she does little things for us children even though she doesn’t have to.
My mom is gentle because of how she handles delicate things
My mom is musically talented with singing and playing the piano.
My mom is just downright wonderful and she’s an inspiration in everything she does. I’m so thankful that she is mine. I love you mom!
Thanks for reading! My question to you is: What do you love about your mom?
